A decade of Discovery

The largest rainforest on earth, the Amazon, has proved unrivalled biological diversity according to a report by WWF; Amazon Alive! Over 1200 new species of plants and vertebrates have been discovered over the last decade. A number greater than other areas such as Bornea, the Congo Basic and Eastern Himalayas combined over the same time period.
In total 637 plants, 257 fish, 216 amphibians, 55 reptiles, 16 birds and 39 mammals have been discovered.
